Dody Glessner

Dody & Friend My boyfriend and I were taking six horses to Tennessee for the world championships when I apparently (I have no recollection) hit a parked tandem semi in the left hand lane of 81 south. It took them two hours to get me out of the truck and they then life flighted me to Bristol Medical Center. I was in a coma and on life support for about 10 days. My boyfriend was treated and released the same day, but with 150 stiches from the shoulders up. When I woke from a coma, I wasn't aware then, either, but at least I was out of a coma. I looked at my mother and said "I'm not in here, Mom." I was then flown to another hospital close to my parents house where I became somewhat aware of where I was. Someone had to tell me why I was there. I've had endless therapy, and still am in PT one year later. This accident happened 7-30-98. I've had knee surgery on my left leg(PCL replacement)and foot surgery on the right leg. Plus a closed head injury, broken left orbit and nasal bone, and a broken hip. But I have moved on. My boyfriend and I are engaged to be married and that makes me one of the happiest around! One thing that eased my mind was that all the horses came off the trailer without a scratch. Thanks for listening!
