What I Have Left Kelley Parker
I have no voice, to sing a tune,
my speech, was stolen all too soon.
Does anyone know, or care how I feel,
without music, my life is unreal.
You say remember, I say what?
I can't remember what I forgot.
Short Term Memory, is only a blur,
hour to hour, I guess, what occurred.
My eyes, green eyes, if only could see,
the whole world ,would then, open up for me.
I could see to read, and spy a far,
watch sunsets, and gaze at the stars.
Am I deaf, why can't I hear?
At one time, I heard your, whispers in my ear.
The doctor said,"auditory nerve damage,
but you have one good ear, you'll learn to manage."
I wish, how I wish, that I could still dance,
I'd glide, I'd sway, while I thought of romance.
A cane is my friend, I carry it here,
because my balance, leaves me, so much to fear.
My life, where has it gone?
It saddens me to think, for long,
that this could be, the best that it gets,
my hopes and dreams, I'll be forced, to forget.
OH NO! this cannot be,
for GOD,our father, has promised me,
If you ask, and believe, in the name of the LORD,
you shall receive, more, than ever before.
